We are in recovery mode from two weeks of traveling which means piles of laundry, empty fridge, bags under our eyes, and down trodden hearts that time with all my family is over:(
Will be sharing some of the fun things we did along the way tomorrow! Until then, here is an inspiration board that perfectly reflects summer vacay;)

Hope you all are doing well!

15 Friends Project Result

If you remember, I was lucky enough to be a part of these traveling canvases, the 15 Friends Project. These two artworks are the collaborative effort of 15 bloggers, each which added their own touch to the canvas. See what I added here.

Cool news is, they are now up for auction! Steve and Michelle (the creators of the project) are going to donate half of the proceeds to charity and the other half to starting more collaborative projects! You can bid on the artworks here.

It was such an honor to work with some of my favorite bloggers on this project, and can't wait to see what else Steve and Michelle come up with!

Blog Takeover with Dallas Shaw

Starting a brand new series today on IHOD! Blog Takeovers will be featuring my favorite artists, designers, and bloggers who will "take over" IHOD for the day:) I got to know Dallas by helping her with some design work on her blog, Dilly Dallas. You may be familiar with her incredible fashion illustrations. Happy to have her work grace the space as the first takeover!...
(photos by Alison Conklin)

What is the inspiration behind your current work?
Still heavily inspired by the fashion industry.
This year you will see more of my personal taste show up in illustrations and the website.
Also inspirations from beauty and home design.

What can we expect to see from Dallas Shaw in 2012?
Many new collaborations in the works with some amazing designers!
Also, a new feature here on the website where you can purchase artwork.
(Website just launched yesterday!)

Goal #1: Write More Handwritten Letters

One of my 12 goals for 2012 is to write more handwritten letters.
I had a great dose of inspiration to get me going.
These are just a few handwritten notes I received over the holidays from cousin Maggie, friend Marisol, and blogger buds Elisse and Brandi. A handwritten note can say so much about a person's character don't you think??
"Nonetheless, nothing expresses respect for another like a handwritten letter, and no love e-mail, text message or cell phone call will ever be carefully bundled into a memory box and savored for years to come. In a world that thrives on acceleration, the handwritten letter calls us to a time more deliberate, elegant, and gracious." -Tom Barlow

P.S. Thank you all ever so much for the clever, witty, and fantasticly awesome title suggestions for the new modest fashion posts! Head over to the fan page to help vote for the final 5!!

Take 3: Red, Orange, and Yellow Summer

What a WHIRLWIND this past week has been. I am so physically and emotionally drained. It was so difficult to say goodbyes, and pack up our life. I am so happy to have arrived to GA safely though with my little family. That is all that matters. However, my husband and I swear we will never move again!... even though its bound to happen since we are renting a home, until we decide where we want to settle. I was seriously tempted to leave everything I own behind and live a simpler life. I have resolved to do so in some ways! :)

I have so much of you all to catch up with! I will be back in full swing soon, but for now, enjoy this summer post! <3
