Sequins....the best way to end and begin a year, eh?? ;)
So friends, I want to start connecting my lookbook posts to something close to my heart: modest fashion.
I see so many women today suffer from self-esteem and self-image issues. I know so much of this is caused by the way "beautiful" women are portrayed in fashion and media. Not only does it seem you have to be skinny and perfect, but you have to "flaunt what you've got" to get attention....except its not the kind of attention our hearts are made for.
I am really more of the Audrey era in mindset:)...
"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her hear, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."
~ Audrey Hepburn
So, here is where I need your tips! Starting something new, where I am going to be opening up the Lookbook posts as a chance to link up your own outfit posts on your blog as well! Here's the dilemma: What to title the link up party's?? Would love your suggestions! Shoot me an email or leave a comment with any catchy phrase ideas that embodies modest fashion:)
Cheers to new things in 2012!
I love this outfit (and necklace, gorgeous) and this idea. This is part of the reason I've begun posting outfit posts on my blog. Seriously brilliant idea Anna and you will help so many women! Just wish I had an idea for a title....
ReplyDeleteLovely indeed! Every person needs a little reminder of some dsign tips in the winte rtime.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!! This has been something I have been thinking about for a while. I am so glad your doing this. Have you ever heard of Pure Fashion?
ReplyDeleteCheers, Cams
you're* haaa i can spell. promise.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Bringing classy back...I think this is so important for both young girls all the way to mammas embracing their new bods! Can't wait to see more. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 2012 Anna! Pretty outfit. I'm all about dressing modestlyy myself so I totally get where you're coming from.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea! I have seen so many link ups, but none specifically focused on modest fashion.
ReplyDeleteAre you planning on having the link-up on a specific day? It's not really original or catchy, but the only name I can come up with right now is Modest Monday. So not earth-shattering! :-)
Love your outfit, too!
taking from Audrey's quote, you could call it "The True Beauty Files"
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a snazzy title for your series as I think it is such a GREAT idea! The message of modesty and beauty radiating from inside out is so overlooked in most of the fashion posts I see.
Well, giving it my best shot . . .
Clean Style Files
Modeste Files (Modeste = Modest in French)
Discreet Beauty Lookbook
Lookbook by Its Cover (Play on the phrase never judge a book by its cover)
Tastefully Stylish Mondays
Not excited about any of them but maybe you’ll see something you can play with to come up with a title. Can’t wait to see the other looks in the link-up.
Cheers,
Grace Hester

That silver sparkly top is AMAZING!!!! I adore this outfit. That Audrey Hepburn quote is so true.
ReplyDeleteAnna, you look absolutely stunning! I love, love, love your idea about modest fashion. I sometimes feel like a grandma because I never wear anything low-cut or super short (I feel like I'm half naked if something comes above my knees, for crying out loud), but I, too, share the Audrey mindset. Can't wait to see these posts!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the name, how about something like "Showing Some Style" (a play on showing some skin)? Just an idea. I love me some alliteration. ;)
how do you find the cutest things at old navy? i never find stuff there. and i love this! modesty is more attractive then women know.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteYou can't ever go wrong with pearls :)
I really do like that idea about linking up with modest fashion posts! I don't have any ideas myself, but I saw a comment about the "True Beauty Files" suggested by Katherine Lee so I second that!
Sequins - the best way to end the year, start the year and everything in between ;) Such a great idea but my little brain is all frazzled after Christmas and I've drawn a blank on a title! If I get inspired, I'll let you know! Bon annee :)
ReplyDeleteHotness! Seriously you look great! Perfect combo of mixed materials.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Anna! You can never go wrong with sequins, love this outfit. Happy New Year to ya!
ReplyDeleteAwesome awesome awesome idea Anna!!! One reason I always love your outfits is because they are modest! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the top
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE that top, and what a great idea! I might just have to snap a few pictures of my favorite outfits to link up!
ReplyDeleteDear Anna, my sister just said we look alike, my name is Ana too... I'll be lurking around often. xo
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! And what a great idea. Totally on board with modest fashion...I'm a huge advocate that you can still be fashionable and beautiful while not letting everything hang out (:
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous as ever! happy new year! :)
ReplyDeleteAnna, what a great idea! I def. think the world needs to see the link between beauty, style and modesty!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm a name: A Modest Step in Style, Fashion and Grace, Hepburn Beauty? :)
Good luck!
This is such a beautiful, sparkling photogrpah. I really love your idea too. I think the titles of Fashion and Grace and The True Beauty Files are both excellent. A couple of slightly sillier titles that come to my mind:
ReplyDeleteAn Eye Full of Soul (Not Just Skin)
In Style (Not Just a Bikini)
I'm sure this idea will be a roaring success- congratulations on it already!
Great idea, Anna! You know I'm all about modest fashion!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea Anna! I need to think about a good title. I'll post again if I'm hit with it! Really great idea though!
ReplyDeleteWow Anna that is such a great idea. I look forward to reading this. What comes to my mind is "fashion from the heart".
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I like it! How about this title? Virtue is the New Black.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea and love your look! If I think of a fun name, I'll definitely let you know!
ReplyDeleteDon't have a catchy title, but I do love the idea and your outfit! Especially that top! Wish I lived a little closer to an Old Navy... :) Can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI love your top! I wanted to buy the exact same one from the same place but they didn't have my size. I saw it also at Banana Republic but it was a little bit on the pricey side for me.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! The jacket goes well w/ the top.
You're so adorbs. I love love love this. I'm all about modest fashion. For 5'2 I'm super curvy up top and I hate things that are too low. Basically I have to wear a turtleneck to NOT have some cleave. It's annoying. I'd love to see fashionable non-turtleneck options!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to think on this and email if I come up with anything. :)
what a GREAT idea. something near and dear to my own heart. i am very excited for this to start up!
ReplyDeletethat is gorgeous... such a beautiful look!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable. Love the sequin top and you made the pearls...fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeletelove this look, so not in your face. perf!

Such a fantastic outfit & a great idea for a new series for the new year. Here's my best go at some titles:
ReplyDelete1. Gotcha Covered
2. Bringing Classy Back
3. What Would Mom Wear?
Alright, maybe not number 3. ;)
Hi Anna, I love this idea.
ReplyDeleteModesty is very important to me too.
What about: M&M: Modern and Modest
Or: Ladies Only
Best of luck! Can't wait to see how it will develop!

I love the sequins mixed with pearls--two of my favorite things. The link up party is a great idea! I have a hard time coming up with names for things too--they're all way too cheesy!
ReplyDeleteLove that idea! I am here in India and anyone hardly (read no one!) wears anything above the knees except if I am in a pub or something. We totally embrace modesty here. I would love to see something which every woman can wear with her modesty intact. Come back later with a title! :)
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of the blog called 'Stolen from Grandma'. It's a great blog with wonderful vintage inspired fashion outfit posts. You could use that as a title (Ask her permission first :P)
ReplyDeleteOr you could use -
1. Audrey Inspired Style Files
2. Back to modest times
3. Real Women - Real Style
Well not excited much about any of them.
Good luck! Can't wait to see more of this

ReplyDeleteLove your top! I looked for one on Old Navy and I think they only have larger sizes in stock-bummer:(
ReplyDeleteAdore your modest dressing idea!
I love that top! I work at old navy, so it's extremetly hard to not buy cute stuff like that when it comes on the floor!
ReplyDeleteas a representative of The I Am Project, we fully endorse this!!! you are such a beauty inside and out, Anna! ox
ReplyDeleteLOVE that top! And love that you are talking about modesty. It is so key and so important, but can be so hard at the same time. Love love that quote too.
ReplyDeletefirstly, I am in LOVE with sequins right now, and i LOVE your top! :)
ReplyDeletesecondly, I'm totally with you on modesty. it's something that is very important to me, and something I strive for. being 14, it's very hard. I often look to blogs for inspiration (in styles that are cute AND modest), and I really really love your style. so, thank you, always, for the inspiration and encouragment! :)
It's official. You are the cutest and most put together person I know. Gosh I can never get enough of these!! Don't ever stop posting your amazing outfits.
ReplyDeleteLove this look - especially the sequin top! It's so captivating!!
