I have this really cool little brother named Paul. He is my kids favorite Uncle.
When we were in St. Louis, he wanted to practice his archery so we all piled in the car to see what this was all about. He gave me a lesson, and I must say....
I had my Katniss Everdeen moment.
I had my Katniss Everdeen moment.
I think if I had one of these in my backyard it would fast become my stress relief outlet.
It was quite exhilarating.
{My sister Jana (aka Primrose), and her amazing scarf..}
{My beautiful sisters Angela, Jana, and Madeline}
My sisters make everything an adventure. They were climbing trees and causing a scene in the archery fields at Forest Park. It was all very entertaining:) Can't imagine life without them.
Paul was very patient with us. He has such a big heart.
So, speaking of Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games movie comes out in 71 days...just an FYI;) I tore through the trilogy last year. Definately the must read of 2011. However, now I am in need of some new must reads! Let me know any books you have read recently that were fantastic. Not just okay.... but FANTASTIC!

Haha you're hilarious. So excited for the movies too!
ReplyDeleteElbow patches are the cutest :) I read this post and then quickly realized 1) I've never held a bow and arrow, and 2) I've not read The Hunger Games. I must be missing out on something here!!
ReplyDeleteMy ears perked up with your title. I am just now reading the books, I am in the middle of the second one. So good! Have you read The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, it's my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOMG! So awesome :) And look at how cute you are. My ex boyfriend was into archery, it's cool. SO EXCITED FOR HUNGER GAMES!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOk I have 71 days to read the series! Looks like such a special family you have!
ReplyDeleteI think I will put The Hunger Games on my reading list for the summer.
ReplyDeleteJane Eyre is fantastic.
Ahh, that looks so fun! I'm reading Start With Why by Simon Sinek, and it's incredible. It's completely changing my views on business, marketing, relationships and how the world works. Hands down fantastic. Xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteHow cool! And I love your cozy wrap!
ReplyDeleteIt looks freezing there! I can't wait for the Hunger Games movie either!! Going to be epic:)

If you like YA dystopian fiction, I LOVED Divergent. Loved loved loved.
ReplyDeleteps. Could your outfit be any cuter? I love your style.
This does look like it could be a great stress reliever! And your outfit is ADORABLE! The most fantastic book I've read recently was The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I couldn't put it down!
ReplyDeleteloved these pictures!! archery is def harder than it looks!! book recs: Divergent, Matched, and Clockwork Angel!!! happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until his movie comes out--it's going to kick Twilight's butt outta here! Now you made me want to try archery...my husband and I need a "sporty" hobby, and this is about as sporty/athletic we will get! *haha*
ReplyDeleteThis looks fun.

You're totally channeling Katniss here - and 71 days is sooo close!! Such an adorable family.
ReplyDeleteJana...or Primrose? ;) Loved that series. Mourned when it was over.
ReplyDeleteHaha love katniss!! Archery sounds like something I'd love to try
ReplyDeleteI would recommend, "Katherine" == the ultimate love story (swoon, swoon) could not put it down and have read it 3 times sice last year. Based loosely on actual historical characters. Also an interesting peak into Catholicism at that time period.
ReplyDeleteOr the Kristen Lavransdatter trilogy (liked the first and third). Be sure to get the translated version by Tina Nunally. The Swedish author, Sigrid Undset, who wrote this won the Nobel Prize for the series. Am currently reading this author's (Sigrid Undset) "Catherine of Siena" - very gifted writer and great storyteller!
okay, what a gorgeous family you are! archery is pretty tough stuff! we were given lessons in high school, and gosh, you are sure gets sore from when the rod (not sure of the proper terminology) hits it! (aka, I totally didn't have the right technique!).
ReplyDeleteHaha. Awesome! :) And love your sweater!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! So excited for the Hunger Games Movie! Aaaah!

you dress way cuter than miss everdeen, anyway! but this looks fun.
ReplyDeleteSHUT THE FRONT DOOR!! haha I LOVE that. :) I'm about to dive into a the Murakami book IQ84. It's 1,000+ pages. Can't wait! Other than the Hunger Games, though, I tend to read more memoirs and off beat things. Have you read Tina Fey's book? It was awesome. And I still want to read Tim Gunn's book…oh and Mindy Kaling's book! She's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteoh oh oh Sloane Crosley - I Was Told There Would Be Cake. umm can you tell I read a lot? ;)
Ahhh how amazing! I was always bummed we never had archery classes at school!
ReplyDeleteI took an archery class in college and loved it! I have been wanting to go out again and try it. I wish my back yard was big enough to do it in.
ReplyDeleteJenMarie knows what I'm talking about...currently reading Kristinlavenstatter trilogy. LOVE IT! Please join. We'll make it a book club via Skype, then visit Norway. Just saying...it's amazing
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a great time!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Hunger Games yet, but I got it for my bud for Christmas and she loooooved it. I may have to borrow it!
Aww your brother is so sweet - and I must say, you look like you could do some damage with that boy and arrow!
ReplyDeleteI just read the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and surprisingly got really into it. If you're looking for a quick read, it's the way to go!
xoxo
Jenna
I am scribbling down these recommendations in the comments! So many good ones... I just finished Kisses from Katie (and actually wrote about it on my blog today!). It was really good and gave lots of food for thought.

ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous is your family? how cute is your outfit? answer: very. I still have to read the hunger games (can you believe it...) I'll get on it right away!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are too sweet of you and your brother and sisters!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bond! and FULL HOUSE ;)
I need to start the Hunger Games!! I've heard nothing but great things about them. I've read all of Emily Giffin's books (Something Borrowed) and they're pretty addicting but not of too much worth since theres cheating, etc. going on :/ ehhh other than that they're easy reads. haha how convincing, right?
omg love - can't wait for that movie to come out :)
ReplyDelete- Sara @ Gameday Stylist
I'm sooo excited for the film to come out. I read the trilogy in 3 days (I was laid up in bed, so I have an excuse), and I really loved the way it ended.
