Three Years.

Last night my husband and I watched "Return to Me" as a tradition to bring in our anniversary. Its one of our all time favorite movies. One of my favorite lines of the movie is when the grandpa tells David Duchovny that "her heart truly started beating for the first time" when she met you. This has always been the way I felt about my husband. Sorry, I know getting sappy. We stayed up late talking and reflecting on the last three years. We both agreed that there is really no way of knowing to what capacity your vows really mean on the day of your wedding. Each day the vows we committed to each other have only grown in meaning and understanding. I can honestly say I love this man more deeply know than on our wedding day, and I know it will only grow deeper.
When you are dating and fall in love, there are not many life experiences under your belt. After going through serious sickness, losing loved ones, moving across the country, and having two babies, you would say it could really test the strength of your relationship. It is in each of those times though that I realized why I married my husband. Strong, selfless, devoted, faithful, and more loving than I feel I deserve. Its in the day to day life that I fall hard for him. Changing diapers, cleaning the kitchen, store runs....its those little things he does for me to help that I never thought could be so romantic;)

All in all, I am humbled to be married to such a stud. I woke up this morning with a large bouquet of fresh cut flowers by my bedside, and it took everything in me not to shed tears of gratitude for our marriage, our children, and the joy that has come with it. God is good. Oh....and what did I get him?? I finally compiled and ordered our wedding album:) But shhh....its a surprise!

P.S. All our incredible photography was done none other than our friends TimWill Photography

Meet the Blogger: Lynn of Hearted Girl

SOOO excited to introduce my sweet bloggity friend Lynn, from Hearted Girl. One of my favorite things about Lynn is that she genuinely cares for the people she connects with. Her thoughtful comments and exchanges lead to our instant friendship over the blogosphere. She is a gem to say the least! Hoping to meet her in person someday:) Thank you Lynn for being a guest here! Honored to have you!
1. You have such a positive and fun space over at Hearted Girl. What got you to start blogging?
Thank you so much Anna! I actually "started" a blog inside my head about 2 years before it became a reality. From the moment I spotted my first glimpse of others amazing spaces I was hooked on the medium and impressed with the variety it allowed for. To me, a blog is like a personal online self-exposure of memories, dreams, hopes, plans, inspirations and day to day life. It's the living diary form that appealed to me plus the design integration towards graphics, photography and illustrations.

After completing a web development course and upgrading my skill set I felt ready with the tools to brand myself in a way I'd feel proud of. Since then I started hearted girl and have loved growing and expanding on those initial roots. Nothing like a good dose of preparation to give you the confident spark!

2. When someone asks you what you do for a living, how do you describe it?
ohhh, the "elevator speech", that's one I've sort of rebelled against. Since I was little my soul put it's back up towards any boxed in fences. The way I usually describe what I do is that I'm a creative person who's found a balance between my love of the logical and my passion for design.
This intention has expanded into a variety of workplaces; all with creative environments. Right now I'm involved with 3 things: I'm an event & office coordinator for Eckhart Tolle Teachings, a free-lance designer and a blogger. You know, to me, even Excel spreadsheets can be seen as a Zen like experience because you need to focus on the data, refine it and embrace frequent interruptions. Staying scrappy, being reactive with a good sense of humor and blending in some DIY approaches seems to be where it's at in my books!

3. What has been the best aspect of blogging for you?
Hand in hand: connection and creation. I had no idea when I began blogging that there would be such a grand community. I'm so grateful and humbled by the amount of wise ladies I've been fortunate enough to cross paths with; they are all awesome as anything!!! Bonus points go to Adobe CS, addicted is an understatement.

4. What are your go to places of inspiration? (people, places, blogs, etc.)
people: the boyf b/c he can pretty much MacGyver anything and has wizard ideas about graphic elements. Kiddos are the smallest inspirations; their take on things almost contains transformative powers zooming me back to innocence. Childisms that speak volumes of truth make me recall a more tender age when we all were harmless as doves, believing in every possibility and young-minded delight.
places: Italy and New York.
blogs: too many to name but the first to come to mind are a beautiful mess, Rockstar Diaries and DESIGNLOVEFEST.

5. Just for fun, what is your favorite way to spend a day?
awe, any day with the boyf, our fur babies and some sunshine works wonders on me. If the evening included a lovely restaurant and a live concert then that would be most excellent too!

Thank you Anna, it's an honor to be here! Your space is so beloved by me; our friendship has been a pleasure to polish and be blessed with. ♥

Style Files: Friendship Bracelets

When I was a girl, we used to make friendship bracelets....it was serious. Requesting colors and styles, and trying new designs. This was part of our endless days of summer and I can still remember how to make them. So seeing this bracelet trend sweep the blogosphere, is quite fun to me. Makes me want to go out and buy a bunch of bright colored string. But being realistic, I don't have time to make these anymore, so for now, I will admire them in photos:)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
The 1000 Celebration continues next week along with a special guest on Monday so stay tuned! :)

DIY: Ribbon Medallions

Fun and easy Ribbon badges for party goers, 4th of July, Big Brother, or Big Sister, etc. etc.
I made one of these for Gabriel to wear when her first met his little sis.
I think they would make great porch decor for the 4th of July:)

Birthday Blessings

I woke up this morning and got to spend some time snuggling with little Veronica. It was going to be a good day already. When I turned to get out of bed I saw this pretty little box on my nightstand....

Photobucket

My husband picked out a beautiful little birthday surprise for me. (Despite my pleas for no gifts this year!) I went to thank him and found him cooking me quite the breakfast.... I was so grateful in that moment that God had given me someone that continually shows me selfless and unconditional love.

This year I am thankful.....
...for two healthy children with squishy cheeks and smiles that make the sun rise.
....for a husband who works hard for our family and never thinks of himself.
....for a house over our heads and jobs to provide.
....for family and friends to learn from, be inspired by, and grow with.
...for a God who is much greater than my meager mind,
and who never fails to demonstrate his love in my life.

Looking forward to the years to come. Cheers!

Understanding Aperture

Since receiving my new camera, I have had to dig out my old notes from college and refresh my memory on things like lighting, ISO speed, and aperture. I found this on pinterest via thedailydigi, and thought I would pass along. A visual lesson which is sometimes the easiest way to learn! Don't see the difference? Look at the opening in the lens! (The larger the whole, the more light that enters the lens:)
Hope you all are having a great week so far!
The 1000 celebration will continue next week.....HINT: look out for some bloggers sporting some IHOD accessories;)

Veronica Rose: 2 months

I originally got the month by month baby photo idea from Nicole of MakingitLovely. I thought it was such a fantastic idea to document baby's growth this way. It will hold me accountable! :D
I already shared with you her Veronica's newborn photos. For her one month photo, I didn't have these month by month stickers yet (thanks Carrie!). When I saw them, they were to cute and easy to use to pass up!

Oh and guess what?! My little Canon Powershot Camera broke last week.  SO, we used the Royalty Program and traded it in for the Canon Rebel XS at a super discounted price! Excited would be an understatement. Felt like Christmas morning! I snapped this lovely pic of little miss Veronica Rose with my new toy:) 2 months has FLOWN by and I kiss her sweet cheeks hundreds of times a day to make sure I am soaking her up. She is such a wonderful baby. She is starting to smile every time we talk to her, and she even recognizes big brothers voice:) I count my blessings every day...

P.S. I almost forgot to announce the winner of the Mokkafiveoclock Skirt giveaway! ....#38 - Aspiring Kennedy!! Congrats! will be contacting you to claim your prize! Thank you to all who entered!

Moving.

When I mentioned it was a crazy week last week, this is one of the reasons why...
My husband accepted a job in Atlanta, and we are moving our little family from KS back to GA next month! Mixed emotions come with this move. Atlanta feels like home to us since it is where we got married and had our first child, and made many good friends....so we are excited to be back again. However, it is very difficult to leave my sister and her family:( We are very close to them and have loved having them as such a big part of our lives in the last few years.

But every chapter in life brings both trials and blessings. I am thankful for both these last few years, and looking forward to the next chapter and what it will bring!
