Thursday's DIY: Jewelry Hangers

I have been seeing so many wonderful ideas for hanging jewelry. I needed some space to hang my jewelry designs in my work space so I picked up a piece of wood, screws, and pulls, and got to work. My hubby taught me to use the power drill-he he:) Here is the result...

Prime and paint your wood, Space and drill in screws, add two hangers, and your pulls of choice!

Supplies Needed:
4in. x 2 ft. plank of wood
5-7 pulls or knobs
5-7 screws
2 hangers

I love getting ideas and inspiration from other blogs, so I hope to do the same for you!
Hope to catch up with you soon!

P.S. PuglyPixel has these lovely free japanese tape downloads. Too fun to pass up!

Happy Birthday to Gabriel and Giveaway Winner!

(I made this invitation for his birthday celebration:) Working on some DIY's for the party...)

Today is my baby boy's first birthday. Definately bittersweet for me... I know they say it goes by fast , but I still want to defy time and make each day last a year. Last night, Gabriel woke up from a bad dream crying so hard, so I ran in there to comfort him. As he laid his head against my chest holding his blankie, I couldn't prevent the tears from falling.... I wanted the moment to last forever. I thank God for the opportunity to be a mother, and I look forward to having more children:) Motherhood isn't always easy, but I have never experienced a greater love and joy in my life (next to marriage). It is a gift that I don't take for granted...

Meet the Blogger: Jenny from The Swede Records

Tell us why you started The Swede Records....

With Jonas’s family in Sweden and phone calls few and far in between, we wanted to find a fun & easy way for our families to see what we were up to.  I already had a Tumblr & really enjoyed blogging so when I came across a few “couples” blogs, I thought it would be a really fun thing to do.

You are getting married in a little over a month! What are you most looking forward to about marriage?

Oh gosh, everything!  First off, I’m excited to say my vows…to make my promise in front of God and all of my family & friends to love Jonas in every sense of the word, until the day I die.  I’m also looking forward to calling him my husband, buying a home, having babies, & really building a life together.  My parents have been married for 30 years & they have had such an amazing life together, I hope to follow in their footsteps and be a good example to my children.

You have an incredible voice, and almost went into singing, what made you decide to do screenplays?

That’s so sweet, thank you! I was strongly considering pursuing a music career and wanted to for as long as I can remember but after getting my “dream job” at Universal Music, I was a little bit turned off by the industry and its “Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll” mentality (just not my scene).

My brother Jon is a Screenwriter/Director & is so passionate about movie making which I found very intriguing.  One day, I told him several ideas I had for different movies & he said to me, “Well, why don’t you write them?” I didn’t even ponder that possibility before. I couldn’t stop thinking about what he said & just decided to research & learn more about screenwriting.  I’m so happy that I listened because it’s become my passion & I really feel like I this is what I was meant to do.

Where do you go to for inspiration?

I tend to surround myself with goal-oriented individuals.  People who work hard towards their goals & who push me to do more, be more, volunteer, work harder, etc.  I believe that we are the product of our environments so I enjoy being with positive people who push themselves in all areas of their life and inspire me to do the same.

Do you have a closet obsession? (aka secret guilty pleasure)

I’m pretty good about moderation when it comes to shopping although Jonas always tells me that I have way too many clothes ;-)  The one thing though that I have drawers full of is lip gloss.  I buy like 15 tubes at a time at Sephora & can’t leave a store without buying one.  I don’t know what it is about it but I literally freak out if I go out & I forget to bring some...

* Thank you Jenny May for the interview! Jenny and I met our Freshmen Year of college! She was  the friend that got me through my first semester with her amazingly sweet personality and friendship. We had an 8 am political science class together! ha! I was so sad when she transferred to California, but obviously God had big plans for her:)*

The Lovely Blogger List

My name is Anna, and I just moved from Atlanta to Kansas last summer. With the big change, came the desire to start something new. So I started In Honor of Design Shop and Blog. I feel blessed to do something that I love that allows me to stay at home with my baby boy. I have a supportive husband whose encouragement is what inspires me to reach higher than I would dream I could...

I create accessories for Little Misses and Ladies. I am always bursting with ideas so it is hard to limit myself to focus on certain things. Some of my recent creations have been custom bridal pieces such as flower girl tutus and bridal headbands and corsages. I also do Graphic Design/Blog design, so I am pretty busy! I love meeting new people so thanks for stopping by!

Meet Emily Baker of Frenchie & Flea

Describe the girl behind Frenchie and Flea in 5 words! ;)

Colorful, Passionate, Giving, Innovative, Blessed

When people ask you what your occupation is, how do you describe it?
Eeeks, this is always tough!  I love anything hands on - working on a photo shoot, crafting details for weddings or parties, finding creative ways to package things, the list goes on and on - so coming up with a "job title" that encompasses everything that I do and all that I want frenchie & flea to be as a brand is really difficult.  I have a BS in Design with a focus in Visual Communication & Presentation, so anything related to graphics, arts, 3-D design, merchandising, interiors, etc, I LOVE!  SO...I guess my "occupation" is comprised of lots of layers and facets under the umbrella of "Designer & Stylist".

You have so many fun aspects of Frenchie and Flea. Which is your favorite?
I don't know!!!!  Things are always crazy with f&f, and lately I've been loving photo styling and all that wedding season entails!  The blog is also a really fun part of my job...I love the fact that through blogging I have been able to connect with so many other talented people!  I thrive on creative energy, and LOVE that the internet has become a place chocked full of inspiration, ideas, and advice from all over the world.

Where do you find creative inspiration? (this can be websites, places, etc.)
I love that I am lucky enough to live in San Francisco.  It is FILLED with inspiration that I am lucky enough to experience right outside my front door every day!  Shopping, wandering around the different neighborhoods, the scenery...it is soooo lively and eclectic here!  Flea markets & vintage shops are great for sourcing photo shoots or finding crafting supplies, and I also cen't get enough of fashion & interior shops/magazines/blogs.  Websites & blogs I read daily include: Apartment Therapy SFDesign*SpongeOh Happy Day!Oh Hello Friend, and a slew of wedding & photography blogs.  I am also very fortunate to have a ton of creative friends and family members, who are so inspiring and supportive!  My idea of a perfect day is doing something crafty, whether its  brainstorming ideas, or working on a collaborative project, with any of them - ooooh the creativity always abounds!

What would you say are your designer must haves?
EVENTS: When you are hosting or throwing an event, I think its all about infusing your personality into the details.  Focus on a handful of elements that are special to you and don't stress about the rest!  Have a focal point (a dessert table, a great centerpiece, a funky photo booth, a fun crafty project) and execute it well....don't get bogged down with trying to do everything.  Quality over quantity.  OH! And of course use a lot of layers, textures and colors :)
FASHION: scarves, layers, BRIGHT colors - I believe in a closet full of colorful cardigans and great accessories.
HOME:  Again, I LOVE color (especially yellow!)!  Throw pillows are a great way to change up your look without breaking the bank.  I also LOVE quilts and throws, and great prints from Etsy or Indie Artists - art that's awesome, affordable, and supports other crafty folk!
BUSINESS: I am a fan of great branding!  Conveying who you are through your logo, business card, packaging, blog, etsy shop, etc. is SO important in this social media world!  A cohesive brand and marketing are the best thing you can invest into your business - no matter how small it may be - especially if you are looking to grow.  So I guess my designer must-haves would be a great logo, photography and fabulous packaging :)

You can find more F& F here:

Guess what?! This week only you can take 10% off your purchase at Frenchie & Flea Shop! Just let her know you are an IHOD reader!
Thank you Emily for your time, and sharing this fabulous interview!
Hope you all enjoy her blog as much as I do!
